Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for Wicomico County and Surrounding Areas October 11-13
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wicomico County and surrounding areas from Saturday-Monday, October 11-13, as a powerful nor’easter approaches the Mid-Atlantic.
A chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast Saturday, October 11, increasing after 8 p.m. Winds from 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are expected beginning Sunday afternoon, October 12, and continuing through the evening.
Up to 2 inches of rain through Monday evening, October 13, may cause flooding in coastal and low-lying areas. Those who must travel during the storm are reminded never to drive on flooded streets, as just 1-2 feet of fast-moving water can be enough to carry away most vehicles. Standing water also may hide damaging obstructions not visible from the surface.
At this time, SU continues to monitor the storm and expects to remain open. For the latest information on any weather-related disruptions, please visit the SU website.
